Advertising campaign for Vanguard Theatre’s production, Rage Against the Dying of the Light, employs a stark, visceral visual language that echoes the urgency of its themes. The design leans heavily on high-contrast black-and-white portraiture, where intimate close-ups convey raw emotion—defiance, contemplation, resilience.

The typography is bold, modern, and unflinching, set in stark white against deep blacks and muted pastels. The grid of subtle typographic patterns layered over the images suggests a sense of controlled chaos, a tension between order and emotion. Meanwhile, the choice of materials—printed assets and flyers, outdoor advertisements, and commuter advertising—extends the narrative beyond the theatre, embedding it within the city’s fabric. This is design as storytelling, where every visual element amplifies the production’s poetic rage.
